Have you ever had the experience of driving behind a truck, and hanging back a bit – because you’re scared the load will come off? The serious challenge is, industrial companies, whether in mining, oil & gas, energy, manufacturing or heavy industry, continuously experience unexpected requirements in packaging and transporting of heavy equipment. Extremely heavy, bulky, or over-sized, industrial products often require special handling and using reliable steel pallets and suitable load restraint systems. This is because a single failure in a pipe, steel, or heavy equipment load will mean disaster.

Compliance for Heavy Equipment & Component Road Transport

Failure is never an option for heavy industrial storage and transporting. For businesses and companies involved in heavy industrial, pipe, steel, or heavy equipment, what is needed is a reliable transport storage and packing partner that can be counted on getting products and equipment to its destination safely.

Loading Heavy Equipment onto Certified Steel Pallets

Packing and transporting heavy machinery is a serious challenge. Supporting shipments weighing over 2000kg while attempting to rigidly follow domestic and international shipping specifications and regulations. All this requires a depth of knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, some common sense, and the best steel pallets available from DAYWALK. Our pre-engineered solutions are certified, tough and available in a range of options to suit your load and operational requirements. We’re recognised for our high quality, safe and efficient steel pallets, that perform under pressure and are specifically designed to handle the rigours of heavy industry.

Engineered for Safety and Certified for Total Compliance

Beyond heavy-duty storage, DAYWALK logistics solutions bridge the crucial gap between operational efficiency and safety compliance. All custom storage systems and transport frames are developed by Australia’s top logistics engineering minds to ensure they meet stringent Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legal obligations and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) regulations.

Rather than risking site safety with unrated timber alternatives or costly single-use structural modifications, choosing a DAYWALK solution gives you complete confidence. Every system is independently reviewed and certified by a third-party engineering team, bringing rated load capacities, robust safety features, and proven structural longevity to the harshest heavy industry and mining environments.

Solving Heavy Equipment Challenges

For example, a problem like this could occur, such as a 10T electron beam processing equipment with a challenging shape and is top heavy. In this case, it is clear that conventional wood pallets could not be used. To help with the unequal weight distribution, a steel pallet provides certified support for heavy components. Custom spreader plates and bolts would also be used for CoR compliant restraint.

For another example, crated equipment that weighs some 12T but could not exceed a height of more than 1000cm. Again, steel pallets could better support these heavy crates rather than conventional wood pallets. Based on both examples, you can see that since height is the main issue here, the steel pallet serves as the anchor for the heavy load weight while supports, braces, and brackets serve as the height solutions.

Steel is the Ultimate All-weather Option

The steel pallet is the hardier all-weather alternative to wooden pallets. In almost all applications about carrying weight, steel pallets are the higher option. And DAYWALK steel pallets are also easy to handle than any hardwood counterpart.

The key advantages are:

  • Steel is not subject to weather-based or natural decay even after long periods
  • Steel is stronger than wood, and there will never be instances of boards popping off after frequent use
  • Wood pallets aren’t certified for transport
  • Nails can protrude or boards can break, causing damage to the load

We work with countless clients who have had component damage, incidents or injuries simply due to wooden pallets failing. Timber breaks, decays and wears quickly, meaning that your pallet must be regularly replaced and monitored for any signs of weakness of damage. Steel is a reliable and long-term option that can be used over and over again, in any conditions.

DAYWALK also offers a full range of cages, preservation and pallet hoods, to keep your palletised goods protected from humidity, dust and rust.

Prevent Damage & Delays with Heavy Equipment Transport

With steel pallets available for everything from everyday component storage through to heavy-duty transport applications, DAYWALK can help you select the right pallet for your component, load and handling requirements.

In spite of the difference in cost between steel pallets and wooden pallets, one needs to view steel pallets as a long-term investment. Put everything down with pen, paper, and a calculator, and one will see the cost, time, and labour saved by investing in a stronger and more reliable pallet option. Also consider the substantial cost of handling injuries, component damage, job delays and potential downtime caused by a failing timber pallet. You’ll soon see that it adds up to select a steel pallet that offers reliability. Many of our solutions are standardised to Australian pallet size, with international pallet racking compatibility. And as they are pre-engineered and in-stock, the pallets are ready to be put to work immediately.
