To remove difficulties, delays and unsafe handling and transport practices, DAYWALK was contacted to develop a solution.
Thie project brief required the following:
- Transport and storage solution in one
- Withstand harsh mining and industrial environments, reducing need for plastic preservation methods .
- Improve logistics efficiency while protecting high-value equipment
- Allow safe loading and unloading using forklifts and cranes
- Increase efficiency with component logistics
TRANSPORT CONTAINER & SKIDS SOLUTION
DAYWALK developed a Component Transport Container with custom skids for Bergen Turbo assemblies and cylinder heads. The container and skids offer a heavy-duty steel construction, allowing the components to remain securely restrained throughout transport. This solution was designed to simplify handling at every stage of the supply chain.
Traditional transport methods provided limited protection from impact, weather exposure and movement during transit, increasing the risk of costly damage and project delays.
Measurable shutdown efficiency gains include:
- Eliminate ratchet strapping to the container with integrated load restraint inside the container
- Speed up loading and unloading using stacking pins and stabiliser bars
- Deploy immediately with no onsite modifications required
- Drop components directly into engineered restraint frames for faster loading including guidance for how to load.
- Retrieve components quickly through side forklift access, eliminating layer-by-layer unpacking

Key features of this transport and storage solution included:
- Custom engineered skids to suit the exact dimensions of the cylinder heads and turbos
- Heavy-duty steel construction for long service life
- Certified forklift handling
- Integrated load restraint system to prevent movement during transport
- Stackable design to maximise storage and transport efficiency
- Weather-resistant construction suitable for mining environments

To fully support the components during transport, engineered frames were developed.

With seamless storage and transport, shutdowns were simplified and deadlines protected with the container.

By replacing temporary transport methods with a purpose-built engineered system, the client improved asset protection, streamlined handling operations and reduced the risk of transport-related damage across its logistics network. The reusable, adaptable design also supports lower lifecycle costs while ensuring valuable equipment arrives ready for shutdown installations.
