CHALLENGE
For mining operations, a failed pump can quickly become a costly downtime event. When a leading pump OEM was supplying a critical pump package to a Queensland mine site, they needed a solution that would protect the asset throughout transport, storage, and handling while ensuring it remained installation-ready when required.
PUMP CRITICAL FOR OPERATIONS

The challenge was not simply moving the pump from one location to another. The asset needed to be protected from transport-induced damage, environmental exposure, and handling risks that could compromise its condition before commissioning.

Any delays in transport or pump repairs would negatively impact maintenance schedules and operational uptime.

DAYWALK PUMP FRAME

DAYWALK worked closely with the OEM to design and manufacture a purpose-built transport and storage frame engineered specifically for the pump assembly.

The custom frame provided secure load restraint, designated lifting points, and robust structural protection to minimise movement during transport and handling. By creating a dedicated storage and transport solution, the pump could be safely moved through the supply chain and stored on-site without the risks associated with improvised transport methods or temporary storage arrangements.

The frame was also designed to support efficient logistics and site operations, allowing the pump to be easily handled by forklifts and cranes while maintaining full protection of critical components.

PROTECTION FOR HIGH-VALUE PUMP

With the DAYWALK frame in place, the pump arrived on site protected, organised, and ready for deployment. The mining operation gained confidence that its critical spare asset would be available when required and maintained in optimum condition throughout storage.

By reducing the risk of transport damage, handling incidents, and premature deterioration, the solution helped safeguard equipment availability and support operational continuity. Most importantly, the mine site could rely on having a critical pump ready to install when needed. This eliminated downtime and kept operations moving.

Key Benefits

  • Protected critical pump assets during transport and storage
  • Reduced risk of damage from handling and environmental exposure
  • Improved logistics and lifting safety
  • Ensured installation-ready condition when required
  • Supported asset availability and reduced downtime risk
  • Custom engineered for the OEM’s specific pump package requirements

The previous method of transport and storage was on a wooden frame, which was easily damaged and did not fully support or protect the pump.
