Newmont, the world’s largest gold mining company, at the Tanami Mine in the Northern Territory.

CHALLENGE

Operating in a harsh and arid environment means that components at the Tanami Mine face tough conditions. Newmont’s existing transport and storage solution of wooden pallets, strapping and wrapping weren’t just ineffective and costly, they were uncertified and unsafe for smaller, oddly-shaped items.

PARAMETERS

The primary transport and storage pain points for Newmont were:

  • Difficulty finding transport-compliant solutions for small components.
  • High levels of UV exposure, dust and dirt that led to challenges in component preservation.
  • Large number of different components – not just uniform parts – made a one-size-fits-all product hard to find.
