Industry leading mining and cement equipment supplier, FLSmidth, had a challenge around training their operators in CoR compliant transport methods for equipment being dispatched from their facilities. The company did not have a documented benchmark system as to what was acceptable and unacceptable for transport of their heavy equipment. With heavy penalties for breach of CoR laws, management was concerned about how to best approach and manage CoR obligations.
The client also had a challenge around effective transport methods for heavy equipment that had no transport frame, where they had to choose between expensive custom-fabricated frames or compromise with a non-engineered option.
Daywalk engaged in several site visits and collaborations to identify the challenges on site, including an on-site meeting between FLSmidth, Daywalk and an inspection partner to generate a best practice maintenance checklist for steel pallet units being dispatched.
In the solution phase, Daywalk trained the FLSmidth team on how to determine the safety of transport systems, with a detailed complimentary checklist. In addition, Daywalk supplied a number of engineered steel pallets for transporting their heavy equipment including bespoke solutions.
Finally, Daywalk continues to provide through-life support to ensure FLSmidth remain CoR compliant in their operations.
